There are very few days that I dread using public transportation but sometimes there are those days where I wish I was driving and not having to resort to waiting on vehicles at a stop to pick me up. Then there are rare days like about two weeks ago where I boarded a bus and this young guy was just going off shouting and voicing some type of incoherent, dirty lyrics instead of relaxing himself and not disturbing everyone else on the bus trying to have some peace before they arrive at their destination. Have you experienced matters like this when you board a public transportation vehicle and how often?

I've experienced much worse. I tell you, public transportation could be such a pain in the butt. There are some pros to it though as much cons. Here's my rule: if it's a long distance trip, I prefer public transport. If it's just within the city, I prefer using my car.

The worst that could happen probably is this:

In some country I can't remember exactly where it happened, a number of passengers started fighting in a bus. The cause of the fight, was one person insulting another and others got sucked in. Now that would have been bad enough if it had ended there but one of the combatants demanded that driver stop the bus so they could duke it out first. The driver ignored him. This angered the man and he attacked the bus driver . . . who lost control . . .

Survivors of the accident were the ones who told the story. Unfortunate, yeah, but these things do happen.

Anyway, for me all I've ever had to endure are politics discussions which always tend to end in name-calling, etc, etc.

Well, it's definitely cheaper and I guess I get more exercise, but oftentimes I definitely wish it was more simple to have my own car. I spend quite a lot of my late hours at my university studying, and it's difficult to focus when you also have to remember when your last bus is, lest you be stranded and not be able to head home for the night. Not to mention that I frequently get some funky smelling people sitting beside me. It's surprising the number of people that don't shower.

That is a crazy story. I can't believe anyone in their right mind would get on a bus and attack the bus driver, who is the guy that has everyone's life on the line that's aboard the bus. Plus all that because the driver wouldn't stop the bus so that a fight could happen? How ridiculous is that? That alone shows you how driving your own vehicle is the best way to go sometimes and worth spending more on so that you don't have to encounter incidents like this.

Yes, I agree with this too. And pertaining to the last line, I go through the same thing sometimes as well. There's nothing more uncomfortable of a bus ride when it's jam packed full and those sitting next to you have a bad smell that could render you unconscious in a hurry. Not fair at all, especially if those people have water, a rag and some soap available to them.

I have often come across people making a nuisance of themselves on trains, especially late at night when they are intoxicated and returning home from the pub. Most passengers feel intimidated by such behavior, and quite frankly, I also wouldn't want to to mess with such people, as I can never be sure whether they will attack me or push me around. Fortunately, if it's an urban train, the police usually appear quickly and escort the offender from the train. But in rural areas it's more complicated. Passengers will have to deal with the situation before it gets out of hand.
