Is it just me or do movies and shows that have been on in the past and recently have a lot to do with what's going on in our crazy world today? The perfect example is the show Scandal, a lot of topics in Scandal have to do with a lot that's going on in our Government today. Is this just a coincidence or are these shows and movies trying to warn us in some sort of subliminal message type of way. :(

Many shows and movies have lessons and themes in general to take away from it when we watch. What would be the purpose if we didn't learn something from them? Shows and movies with government conspiracies have been around for a long time now, as it appeals to a certain audience who believe that the government is up to something based on their practices. They just put out what they know we'd want to watch and what we'd relate to and watch the success mount.

Of course they do! This is called subliminal pre-programming of the mind. The process fashions your brain through repetition of watching the same themes with the same messages to the point they are viewed as normal. With a little research you'll see that all of the major studios and entertainment companies are owned by an elite group of people that control what's written and imposes their ideas on producers, scripts, story lines, etc. These elite group of people are he same folks that control our Government as well so the stuff you see in the movies is hidden subliminal messages.

The only show that I ever feel had something to do with reality, was The Wire. It was a it too real. The rest are far fro what happens in the real world.

From time immemorial movies, and more recently, TV shows have been used for propaganda either by the government itself or by those opposed to it or specific individuals who are part of the government.

Many filmmakers will always try to use their movies to subtly criticize, tacitly endorse or ridicule governments, people etc. But whether anyone chooses to believe some of the lies is entirely up to them.

Movies and TV shows have always reflected society at certain eras in some ways, and so do songs and other forms of art or entertainment. It's just practical to mirror modern culture since it's what everyone knows and can relate to. I don't think this is entirely on purpose although I'm sure most do have some sort of agenda behind it driven by the ones who make it, but that's only natural as it is their voice for speaking about what they currently see.
