I have a few favorites themes that allow you to use any font and to change the font size as well as having a social media menu (so you don't have to add a plug in. I use Amadeus and Fashionista which are good ones that you can tailor easily and are free.

Are there any others that allow for customizing the fonts and sidebars that you can recommend?

Personally I like the Responsive theme from cyberchimps, which comes with several layouts and has several extended options, but requiring suggested plugins the theme will ask after installation.

Now when it comes to customize fonts, I prefer a plugin for this purpose whether to use default fonts or Google fonts.

I like the one with all white theme. It looks classy and it's free. Some of the best ones though would cost you a few dollars but i think they are worth it.
