We used tom celebrate Valentines, but as the years went on, my husband and I decided it wasn't really for us. I would even go so far as to say we hardly notice the date. I think the day's OTT commercialised and like many important days on the calendar, it's lost its original meaning. So on that basis, we choose not to celebrate it and instead celebrate our love as and when the fancy takes us, mostly every day bar the 14th February :)

Oh yes, Valentine's is coming soon. Fortunately for me, we don't celebrate that day because my husband's stand on that is for every day to be Valentine's day. And that day, he added, is only for commercial purposes so more likely the occasion is being pushed no less by the commercial establishments. Another thing going against Valentine's Day is when it falls on a working day. It was never declared a holiday.

My husband says the same thing. Every day is Valentine's Day... We also decided not to celebrate Valentine's Day and just make a conscious effort to appreciate each other every day. It saves us money not having to buy each other flowers, gifts, cards, candy etc. There is definitely a market out there, it seems stores had just cleared out the Christmas decorations and in came the Valentine's Day decorations. It's a great day for kids to celebrate friendship and caring. I help my kids make baggies of chocolates, cards, a pencil for each student in their classes. It doesn't cost too much and I think the kids love getting these little bags of treats.

We are not doing valentine's day this year because we are getting married and saving money. I will still make him chocolate strawberries, but I do it a little differently. Don't get me wrong I like buying him stuff and spoiling him, I bought him a nerf gun and gourmet candy one time, but I like making the gift. I think homemade gifts are a little more intimate. Like my bouquet of bacon roses, tickets for hugs, massages...love, and a number of other things. Also, I love writing love letters and seeing him blush or smile.

Sorry, went on a tangent, but a list is good too. Especially is well priced. Thank you for sharing it with us!

Wow,cool .You all have an excellent plan for Valentine's day ,making gift by yourself is very meaningful but my wife and I ,we all lazy people who love deeply each other ,and she is an outgoing female who likes outdoor activities ,so I think the sports camera must be suitable for her .
It seems you all so happy, because you have a great husband and wonderful family members .

Just like others, we won't be celebrating Valentine's day this year. Mostly because my husband's sister is coming home and she is evil and her birthday is February 14 and yeah, my Valentine's Day is ruined. Kidding! Not really. She really is evil.

Anyway, I guess gift giving is something we've forgotten as the years passed by especially with so many bills around the house. But I think it's a nice way to show appreciation to your loved one. That list you posted is nice because we all know how hard it is to find gifts for men!

At Walmart, I saw ,nestled among the heart shaped chocolates, a heart box that said Jack Link's. It turned out to be full of beef jerky. That is hilarious and I'm totally buying it for my daughter as well as a giant stuffed panda bear. My daughter and I traditionally have a mother daughter Valentine's Day picnic because my daughter is my best buddy and we're both single.

Thanks for the tip. Who knew they made heart-shaped boxes of beef jerky? That's great. I have a daughter who would love that (especially as opposed to the cheapy chocolates that usually come in those boxes).

We don't do big or expensive gifts for this occasion, but we usually get each other a little something. I really don't know what I'm getting him yet. I still need a little something for the grandbabies too, but they're easy. They are sweet and happy, so anything we give them is received with a smile.

Some people may say they will not be involved in the commercialization of this event. I know it's a commercial thing, however, most ladies love to be shown the recognition and to receive a bit of pampering, so, it's nice to oblige and I does not always have to be lavish. I would say to many men, ignore this occasion at their own peril.

I'm a cheapo and as much as I hate Valentine's Day, I think I will go to the movies and to a romantic dinner afterwards with my lady. One of the good ideas in here I loved was chocolate strawberries. I might go through the effort on making some of these as well, since it seems like such a nice gift.

Those are unique gift ideas indeed. As for me, I am single, so I won't be celebrating Valentines Day. I don't mind though. It's just an ordinary day for me.

Hahaha, true, if you are in love everyday will seem like Valentine's Day, but I'm not really looking right now for a partner. At this point in my life I think relationships are a distraction. :D

Yeap, single also has much more advantages, such as freedom, you can do what you want to do,go where you want to go etc.If you are still young, building your own business first, then looking for a partner is great!
