The DSLR camera is the latest in photographic technology. The resolution is so high that it can compete with movie cameras. However, for home use, it is recommended to purchase the so called point-and-shoot which has also a good resolution for personal use. And the biggest advantage is the battery which is the ordinary AAA rechargeable batteries. Easy to buy so you can have a spare set when the point-and-shot goes lobatt. With the DSLR, the battery is very expensive and buying a spare battery costs an arm and a leg.

Another advantage of the small camera is the portability unlike the huge DSLR camera which is a burden. As they say, DSLR cameras are only for the pro.

I never had the urge to buy a DSLR camera because of the price and it's size. I'm actually quite content with the camera of my phone at 5 MP, it's clear enough for my standards.
