I've explained previously all of the benefits of USB Type-C in another thread. However, the main convenience to the new plug is that it's reversible. It'll save you that three seconds you fiddle with your USB charger, and the standard allows for charging both ways. In some cases, it even provides faster charging. The fact is that USB Type-C is coming to flagship smartphones, at least some of them, by the end of the year.
