I inquired about insurance for my bike as my renter's policy is a bit weak when it comes to items like that. I was surprised at the price it would cost to insure something that isn't worth a great deal of money but worth enough that I wouldn't want to lose it. I am guessing the high price is related to the high rate of bike theft. I am wondering if people have tried to insure specific items and have also had to deal with a high cost or whether it is just for this one type of item. For example, do you have a valuable piece of art that you insure and is it expensive to do so?

Valuing artwork can be difficult so unless you're a famous artist or your piece of art cost a fortune I'm sure it will still cost a lot since artwork can be easily damaged. I've never had to insure something like that or items I attach some value to because to be honest, I don't trust insurance companies at all.
