Has anyone tried a Furminator on their cats? I have a large fluffy cat who is always getting tangled fur but she is 13 years old and gets a bit cranky when I try to remove her knots but just brushing isn't really solving the problem. Any other ideas for removing matted fur would be appreciated too.

We've had the same problems with our long-hair cats. I thought the solution was to brush them every day. They were (are, we have more now) my children's cats, but the children weren't interested in taking the time to brush them every day.

The only solution I know of is professional grooming. You could even ask them for advice. It's possible they will give you some ideas on how to remove the mats (especially if you have taken your pet to be groomed and are talking to them at the appointment).
