I first check for the authenticity of the need and expect them to give me some proof of their need and then give them a cheque but never cash. This way I know my money goes where it deserves. I have many shampoos, conditioners, hair sprays, gels, nail polishes, etc, that I use a few times and don&#039;t like. I hate to throw them out as they are brand new and full. But I know donation bins will not take opened products, and I completely understand why. But it still seems like such a waste...<br />

That is an incredible percentage when compared to other similar organizations.  Plus, most of their &quot;staff&quot; are volunteers.  And if they are paid, they have quite the work load.  I just started volunteering with them recently and I have been wonderfully impressed.  If you are thinking about donating - the Salvation Army is a good apple.<br />

For example, the CEO of the Susan Komen foundation earns 506k+ and the president earns 606k+.  The CEO of the American Cancer Society earns over 788k a year.<br />

Anyway, what are your thoughts? To me that seems excessive. I mean the doctors who treat cancer don&#039;t even get half of that, yet the guy in charge of a charity earns 788k a year????<br />

They take in youth who are homeless and most of them have run away because of abuse.  A sister who is a nun runs the house and I think it&#039;s a great charity.  The monies goes to feeding and lodging the kids.  They also help them get into schooling and get counseling.  This is my favorite charity.<br />

Auctions that help a dachshund and their family with medical expenses, ect.  They are real and do really go to the people. I&#039;m one who loves to do that, but I feel that charities are not giving enough of the donated money to the cause. I remember a few weeks ago, I donated a few £&#039;s to a charity which helps people in Africa. I felt good with myself, but after a while, I found that only a quarter of my money went to the African people, which was only around £5, and considering that I gave more than that, I was hoping it...<br />

      <content:encoded><![CDATA[Maybe this comes from &#039;living on the edge of one OKC-suburb, which is actually closer to the center of another OKC-suburb&#039; (so both &quot;cities&quot; can deny responsibility for my safety ... or something), but I get the feeling that we pedestrians (walkers without automobiles) don&#039;t get the respect we deserve.<br />
