I used to work for an insurance agent who said they were always surprised by how many people actually never read their homeowners policy. How do you know if you have the right coverage if you never read it? In some cases, any changes or additions to your home may not be covered unless you get an endorsement. If you do any renovations or add a shed for storage, you may want to check with your agent to be sure you have the right coverages. We have had renovations and sheds damaged in storms...

I wanted to ask a question here and find out if any of you would know the answer. Lets say that your home owner's insurance is in someone else name. For example your father or mother, even your spouse. But then they suddenly die, and this insurance is in their name. Will this effect the policy, will the policy be dropped if the company finds out that the person on the policy is now deceased. I am curious to know if any of you have any idea what this would mean to the insurance policy.

Just like a wide variety of companies, Insurance Companies are no exception, they too have fine print that we fail to see. This can be very vital, for there may be limitations to severe damages such as flooding and fire, or they may not cover them at all. I thought my home was covered, but failed to see the fine print, and it cost my family greatly. Has anyone else experienced events like these?
