I read somewhere that with 2G connection we can save Internet data. But I wonder how it is possible as we are downloading the same quantity of data and what is different is the time taken to download it. 4G is the faster when compared to 3G and 2G is the slowest in the lot. If we use 2G we have to spend more time on net to download data but there is no change in the volume of data.

I am curious to know if 2G in any way helps to save money on Internet?

It does not help to save money at all, most networks don't even have 2G anymore, of course, its cheaper than 3G or 4G, but it doesn't take up any lesser data, so, for every bit of data. 2G would definitely be cheaper, but its speed would be unfathomably slow. It would not be practical. And it would not use lesser data, but the price of the data would be less.

I strongly advise you to not use 2G.
