Hello all, there is a method that will allow you to fix a 15 or 17 inch Macbook Pro from 2011-2013 that has a failing discrete GPU. The method is a software fix and will allow you to permanently bypass and disable the discrete GPU, forcing your Mac to use the integrated (and working) graphics. Basically, you move the AMD kexts, recreate caches, download ArchLinux onto USB/DVD/Cd and boot up into it, type in a few commands about GPU preferences, and your Mac is back up and running again! This fix allows you to update software, restart the mac, and go about normal usage without fear of it switching back to the discrete GPU. Video tutorial: Forum link:Log In
