Hello all, I don't know if any of you heard about these monitors which are being produced down in Korea. They are 27" LG S-IPS 8-bit LED panels with max resolution of 2560x1440 pixels. Basically, Apple and LG only take in A+ panels. If one panel scores A-, the company does not accept the batch. Then Korean companies like Yamakasi pick them up and use them on their monitors. Now, bearing that in mind, it is possible you may get a screen which has one or two dead pixels. I, however, had zero dead pixels, with no problems at all. One or two dead pixels is not an issue at all, considering it's a 2560x1440 resolution you are unlikely to notice it. But even if you're still paranoid, most sellers do have 'Pixel Perfect' options that cost a little bit more. All reputable sellers are on eBay. They are really cheap for what they are. Around $400 usually, depending on the variant. When Apple and LG charges close a $1000 for this type of monitor. I got one, and it was the best computer upgrade I've done! Love it! Well I have a 21 inch monitor by Samsung and I think Samsung is a Korean company so I'd say that we could consider Korean monitors. I bought this around $250 just early this year so I would not think of upgrading until mid next year I guess.
I know Koreans make high quality products as compared to those that are made in China, so I won't mind trying out their products. I know a lot of people who are satisfied with their Samsung products since it's durable, although I'm not a fan of the sound and camera quality of their cellphones.
Sweet deal, I'm happy that it worked out for you. I wasn't aware of the A- type of panels so I'll dig around to see if I can find a reliable supplier here. This can also be turned into a business opportunity; most people haven't got big bucks to spend on big brands and I am sure that they won't find few dead pixels on their screen. As far as Korean products are concerned, I have bought a lot of Samsung products and wouldn't mind buying from them again. They are a lot superior to Chinese electronics products and I highly recommend it to everyone.
