Yeah, yeah, powdered milk has a bad taste but what's taste got to do with anything if you want to save money? Fact is powdered milk is cheaper than regular milk and can last longer than regular milk. Buying in bulk therefore and storing it as is recommended could save you a lot of cash. Would you switch to powdered milk, even though it has a horrible taste to save cash?
I read a tip on a blog from a woman who says that she mixes her family's milk half and half; half with powdered milk and half with "regular." She says that you really can't tell the difference that way. I'm not sure, but it's something to think about I suppose.
I'd like to try that out. I'm sure it would still save me some money but it's the taste that concerns me. If the addition of regular milk in the suggested ratio will cancel out the taste problem then I'd be all for it. I guess the only way to find out is to experiment. Thanks for that tip, Linda.
Well, I don't really drink glasses of milk (don't get me started on the scam that is the milk industry), but I do occasionally buy it. Yes, it's gotten more expensive during recent times, but not so much so that I would ever see a need to buy powdered milk. It seems like there are other things to cut back on to save money before you change to powdered milk.
I wouldn't switch for drinking milk, no. If the taste is horrible, why should I drink that? That being said, I do use powdered milk. A lot. It is GREAT for baking or anything cooked such as scrambled eggs. You don't taste the milk anyway.... it's only for the texture....so powdered milk is perfectly fine for those situations. Fun fact: It also works perfectly fine for making sour cream, which is another great way to cut costs.
I really don't drink milk but I use to drink powder milk when I was younger and my mother loved it, but now as an adult I would have to say I wouldn't drink it. My kids love milk , and sometimes they like to drink the pet milk mixed with a little sugar in their cereal.
