Building a pergola in your garden will leave it looking attractive and beautiful. They also make a nice place for relaxing after you come home from work. We all know how expensive pergolas are and I would like to know if there are any substitutes or ways to reduce the costs when you want to have a pergola build in your garden.

You could maybe look into just having a nice arbor as a entry way into your garden and usually its a free standing type of structure, that is covered in lattice and supports growing plants. The arbor is more like a entry way type of structure and is sometimes only a couple of feet in length and not so much for dining outside like the pergola. The arbor can also add some height to your garden though. The pergola on the other hand is a bigger structure and is usually not free standing-but you could put a nice bench under the arbor though.

Having a pergola in your garden is quite a dream for many as not many people have that kind of space. If you have such a space then you are really lucky. Instead of getting a readymade pergola, why not build your own? That would be comparatively cheaper and you will also have fun building it. There are numerous sites out there which have got tutorials on building your own stuff, you will definitely find some good ones for building pergolas as well. Try pinterest.com, they have got some really awesome DIY links.
