No, it's just that movies nowadays are getting more commercialized, that people might dive into thinking that since it is, the film producers no longer care about the quality of the movies, but more on market. Industry over artistry. It's not at all the case, because despite the commercialism of the movies, film producers still strive to provide its audience the best they could offer, the best they could do, of course to build their egos and fulfill their callings. Film makers aren't just businessmen, they are also artists. And their artist side prevails. Besides, not all the movies in the past are really quality ones, just like today. There are film makers who might be prioritizing making-money. But in each generations, legends are produced.

Most of the movies nowadays are kind of horrible, specially those "too mainstream" ones such as Fifty Shades of Grey and all those cliché love stories that involve dystopian elements and science fiction. I just don't get it.

I haven't been to a cinema in years. I don't even watch movies at home anymore. Nor televisio, for that matter. My husband watches and that is enough for me. Every time I walk through the room and hear cursing, which seems like every time the tv is on, I think how minds sop up this junk and spit it back out again. I want no pat of it and it seems to show up in quite nearly all genres. I imagine there are very few family movies of the type that there once were. If any.

I think it depends on one's taste and perception whether a movie is good or not. Honestly a lot of movie I saw on theaters right now are good and nice. I like Furious 7, Cinderilla, Insurgent and even Home. I really do not know waht are the basis for reviews out there but then again I respect them because it is part of freedom.

I wouldn't say that modern movies are all bad, I think a lot of it depends on what movies you like.

When it comes to the Hollywood blockbusters with the massive budgets, I don't think there's much originality and they just make films that they think will make the most money, end of the day it is a business after all.

There are a lot of small budget independent films that are under rated, these are the types of movies that are more concerned with telling the story rather than how money it brings in.

I think movies are still good and worth the time. However, I cannot say the same about music. Perhaps this situation is due to the fact illegal downloading has managed to hurt music way more than movies. Does anyone have any idea why?

Anyhow, though, I think TV sitcoms and dramas are generally lame. However, in the last 10 years, two exceptions have been Vice Principals, and Spartacus, among a few others.

Also, on the subject of saving money, I would say movies are still a good investment - if you enjoy them.

I wouldn't say that most movies are bad, but a good part of them unfortunately yes. I think the film industry has been coming only to the financial issue for many years now. To make millions at the box office, a movie doesn't have to be good... You just need to have something (or someone) that catches the attention of the viewers.

So, the magic is done. Simple as that. o_O

I'm an avid movie fan and I watch movies almost every night. It's a great way to relieve stress and to relax while enjoying :) I agree that most new released films are either violent or doesn't have a nice plot, but there are also some movies that are still good and decent. I normally watch movies at home, and I prefer it that way because it's more convenient plus I can save a lot instead of going to the cinema :)

Yes these days movies are not that interesting. But I can't say this for all movies. Once a while I get the movie in which I am interested. So I used to go theater for the same. It is kind of fun watching movie in theater. Honestly even movie is not that good I found it at least okay if I see it in theaters. That's theater effect for sure.

@Mayvin@Mayvin It depends on the taste of the individual watching the movie. It is true that so many movies now are all sex and violence. Most plots are the same which makes it boring. Give me a good drama any day. Something with a good plot and strong characters is much more interesting.

So true. I and my friend used to go to movies a lot but nowadays we have reduced it gradually and we rarely go to the theater. The movies are simply irritating and they are not value for the money. Whether it is too steamy, all about glamor and stuff. Not educational at all and not entertaining too. Sometimes I just sleep in the middle of the movie. It is better to watch in the home itself. :)

I know this is partly me just being overly cynical but yes I thin it is safe to assume that of the movies out, 99 percent are pretty terrible. You can always count on the fifth remake of something you have seen along with other useless movies.

I don't think so. You movies are being promoted and what has been promoted well gets more exposure. Then you have noticed that those movies which have more exposure are violence, crimes, and even sex. I said that I am not with that idea for there are still good movies which have been produced by the film makers, that are well liked by movie goers like me.

Let's not delimit ourselves to what is being trending. Goods or even better movies, educational, documentary are still being filmed and seen by many.

Some movies, recently, are remakes. I am hoping for new and original ones. That's why I dig classic films. You know, those films in black and white? It's understandable that maybe we are out of ideas now. It has been a long time since the first film. But I do appreciate a few recent films, though. As a fan of horrors and thrillers, I loved films such as Get Out and Split. And nothing compares to the creepiness of Japanese horror.

Most movies these days are crappy in my opinion. With few ones that are epic and worth watching on the big screen.

Comedies are still fun in my opinion to be watched on the big screen. However, lots are having similar graphics and plots.
