Samsung has a successful line of smartphone brands. Their newest release - the Samsung Galaxy Note II is one of a kind (well, except for the first Galaxy Note). It's a cross between a tablet and a smartphone. I thought that the combination of bulk plus a stylus would not click with customers but hey, I was wrong. The Note sold like pancakes on a big Nfl game. Do you think that the phablet is the next big thing? Are you considering on getting one yourself?
Phablets! I have never heard of them being called that before but it is a great name for them. They are not exactly what I would want, I like the small size of a phone and I am probably one of the few people left on the planet that just want my phone to make phone calls. I would like to get an ultrabook someday but right now I just don't have the money.
I have very big pockets, so I would not mind carrying one around at all. I think they are a nice idea, but for me make too many compromises between tablets and phones to be of much use. Most phones I use already have a large enough screen, and I have a tablet as well, so I really don't need to choose. Finally, I think one of these phablets would be annoying to hold with one hand, so I would be wary of them.
"Phablets" would be great for people with big hands, and especially for those who like to watch movies on a big screen. I myself wouldn't mind getting one. The added stylus in the Samsung Galaxy Note I & II is a plus for me, as it is great for jotting down notes, drawing, or using it for games that use rapid swipe movements a ton (Cut the rope, Fruit Ninja, etc.). I have tried the Samsung Galaxy Note II in Best Buy, and I can say it is not too hard to hold in one hand. If you also have a subscription to TIME Magazine, most of the time there will be an iPad Mini ad in the back, and the image of the iPad Mini is to scale, so if you want to compare the sizes of the Note II and other Phablets to the iPad Mini, you can just fold up the ends of the magazine until it reaches the border of the image, and then hold it as straight as possible.
Just got a Samsung Galaxy Note 2 and I'm very very impressed with it. The stylus integration is perfect and adds a whole lot of functionally that is unavailable when you are using your fingers alone. The device gets a bit heavy on the hand when I use the device for extended periods but that's ok. I don't have big hands but I'm able to use the device with ease. Given its large screen, I'm able to do a lot more with it than on a standard smartphone.
Phablets? I like that name. I can understand they're appeal. They are smaller than the average tablet and can be used as a smartphone. I'm not sure if they will replace smartphones though especially since they are harder to hold in one hand for extended periods of time.
Yeah I can consider getting one, but it's not really on my "wish list", because I have a smartphone and a computer that can do more than what a "phablet" can do, so think that having one can be postponed at a later time for me.
Nah, not really. The mobile/tablets market has been exploited enough already, and I really doubt new screen sizes would make a difference. I think it's best to go for either a tablet or for a smartphone depending on what you want to use it for.
I would probably not get one. I kind of prefer my phone to be more discreet and understated. When I'm out to dinner with people or hanging out with friends, I don't want this giant phone sitting on the table. I don't really play around with my phone that much to begin with, so I don't need something that big to begin with. Also, I wonder how good the battery life is on a phone with that screen size.
I am not so keen on gadgets.. but looking at the functionality.. ( my husband has one) I am tempted. Maybe I will soon enough. :0
Well, first I have to get past the silly name! I think that almost anything can be sold to almost anyone when it's hyped as the latest "new, great thing." People are a lot like children; flash shiny things in front of them and they get really excited. I still use a "dumb" phone so I guess I'm not keeping up with the latest and greatest.
I have had a closer look at Galaxy Note II and was amazed with most of its features. I can even confirm that this gadget is ahead of some of the big names in the smartphone industry including the iPhone. Sadly, it is a very costly gadget, more expensive than most Android tablets and thus beyond my means. I'll simply wait for its price to fall and then buy it!
I'm sorry its just too bulky for me. I love my Samsung Galaxy tab and I use it for a lot of things aside from work. I work on my laptop and I use my mobile phone for talking and texting. I noticed that they show people playing around with the photos and how you can edit it etc and send it to your friends on the Galaxy note. If I had to draw something on my phone so my friend can understand me we probably would not be friends because he or she would drive me crazy. Plus if I wanted to edit a photo I'd use my laptop on it. I'm sure its not an emergency so I don't have to edit a photo in the middle of a goodness knows where.
I can say phablets are in..they can cater for people who wants a bigger phone but a smaller tablet. Galaxy Note II looks really stunning. I heard there would be an upcoming Note III with almost the same features as the upcoming Galaxy S4.
Lol. I think the term phablet is no longer used though because phones are becoming bigger and bigger. I think 5 to 6 inch devices could be considered phones while 7 inch devices would be considered mini tablets.
Phablets, haha I like that name. I friend of mine has one of those, it was pretty cool, but too big for me to fit in my pocket comfortably. She had a purse, so it was a little different for her.
