We live in an apartment, and so we have very little space for plants. We're looking to branch out from our standard varieties and try something new this year. In the past, we've grown: -Tomatoes -Peas -Beans (both the peas and beans wind around the railing) -Annuals, such as petunias and snapdragons -Hydrangeas Any suggestions for small, colorful plants to try?
One plant that I like is Sweet William it is an irresistible, colorful, biennial flower. It grows for two years, blooming in the second year. The plant is colorful and compact and can be grown on a deck or balcony in containers.
Bromeliads are small and colorful, and the colors are more vibrant when they get good light. I always love a good golden Pothos, but they don't like too much direct sunlight beating down on them.
