Yeah I used to LOVE KMART. I think they were the ones who came up with the SUPER store idea first anyways. There were a lot of Kmart stores in my city in the late nineties early 00s. And then all of the sudden they just started closing them down! I think we only have one Kmart left and it really isn't Super. I have been other places in the US where I see there are still quite a few K-Mart stores(up north), but they too appear downtrodden and empty. And they are expensive!!!
The Big K really does not do much for me. I rather visit them because for one they are not too many in my area. Also, when I have been there the selection has not been great. I would prefer Target or Wal-Mart.
I've never been to a Big K, but we did have a regular K-Mart here in my town. I loved shopping there when they had sales. They shut down several years ago. It's a shame that they have gone so downhill.
I generally do not go to KMart. We have two in my area that I go to in the Spring for plants. The prices on plants have been good in the past. This Spring I went to see if the plants I wanted were out yet, there was very little to choice from. I thought when the company was merged with Sears it would get better but I guess not.
I agree that Kmart has had a decline in selection over the years. They also seem unwilling to keep their prices competitive. The worst part of shopping at Kmart though, in my opinion, is their lack of customer service. It is as if the company has given up on good customer service since they started having financial problems. The cashiers are snappy and rude at times. The sales floor employees are either unable or unwilling to help and very hard to find. In my experience any complaints to management have fallen on deaf ears. If Kmart continues with this awful customer service, I do not see how they can recover.
The store has went drastically downhill. I know where I live, they only have one open anymore and it is about 50 miles away from me. So I do not even go to it unless I am in the area of the store. Then I have to wonder why I went in the store because it is so bad.
I thought it was just me being picky. I shopped in one while in Georgia and it store was in chaos. Boxes everywhere and shelves not fully stocked. I couldn't even find what I was looking for. I have always loved Kmart. I hate they are closing down. They were easier to get around in than Walmart.
When i was younger kmart was the store to go to the one near where i use to live was always full of people going in there but they always kept things clean and in good order but now i hardly see any kmarts around me anymore the nearest one to me is 20 miles away and did doesnt look like anything like it did before.
The only thing K mart has going for it is that they are open late on Christmas Eve and open on Christmas morning. This saved me one Christmas when I was too broke to do my shopping early because I got my paycheck on Christmas Eve. I was able to get a video game my daughter wanted at Kmart on Christmas Eve when all the other stores closed early and started turning people away. So I have one good memory of Kmart.
There have been so many comments about the fact that Kmart has been in decline for a number of years. I have only gone there for a new years recently, so I don't have a comparison from eariler years to make.
