My sister sent me a "care package" with canned and boxed goods and there was a package of Bacon by Boar's head. It was precooked and simply needed warming up in the microwave. The package does not require refrigeration. I tried it and it was AMAZING. So tasty, smelled great and was not greasy. I think this would be great for camping, in "emergency supplies" and great for everyday use. The only draw back was I thought it was pricey...but if you want convenience and taste..try it.
I do kind of find the idea of pre-cooked bacon to be a bit weird, to be honest. Like you said, though, it could be good for camping, etc. An older family friend of ours doesn't like cooking, mostly because of the clean-up required afterwards, so this would be ideal for a person like that, too. I'm surprised it doesn't effect the quality more, though.
