I usually eat out though on occasions when I do have the time to spare, I actually prefer making my own lunch to bring along to work. Making my own lunch allows me to know what I actually am eating and it definitely is healthier than food bought outside. I usually would make extra sandwiches during breakfast so I can bring them along for lunch. Bringing my own lunch definitely allows me to save with the rising prices of food outside nowadays.
Tough call. I love to cook, and don't really have a problem making my own lunch. But I would generally go out for lunch most of the time while at work, just to get out of the office for a bit. Often times, I would run some errands during my lunch break as well. Just helps to break up the work day a bit and clear my mind for a bit. I know it's not the most cost effective or healthy way to go though, but I would get kind of burned out being at my desk in front of a computer for 8 hours a day.
If I had the kind of money, to just buy lunch everyday, I probably would most days. Since I obviously don't have that kind of money, I pack lunch. Lunch is usually whatever I had for dinner, which is almost always delicious! I also pack my breakfast, depending on what kind of time I have in the morning. I probably save a good amount this way, but I just think of it as,if I don't pack lunch, I can't afford to buy, then I'll just be hungry. As long as it's actually good, I'm fine with it. There have been a couple of times where I packed lunch, and had to force it down at lunch time because I just wasn't feeling it.
I prefer making my own food no matter what. It works out to be cheaper and it tastes better overall. I am lucky to work from home so I can make my afternoon meal everyday without much hassle, but even when I worked outside the home I would bring homemade soups, sandwiches and leftovers rather than buy anything.
If I was buying groceries for a family, I would probably pack more of my own lunches. But buying stuff to make lunch for one person can sometimes be challenging, especially if you don't like eating the same thing every day - because you can easily spend more buying all the ingredients to make the stuff then a lot of it goes bad before you can finish it. If I buy a 1/4 pound of ham and a 1/4 pound of cheese, I may not always want ham and cheese sandwiches for the next several days in a row. But if I buy more of a variety of stuff, it all goes bad before I can finish any of it.
