Ooooh Gelsemium.. I live in one of the biggest cities in Canada lol. No matter where I go, my health is important enough for me to make sure I'm eating the best possible food to maintain it. I decided a long time ago, that if our health is most important, we will prioritize it as such and it's turned out better than I could have hoped for. It's not far more expensive to eat right.. meat is probably the most expensive thing, but even when figuring out our monthly costs, we were still eating cheaper than before. Now we're eating even cheaper because I don't eat meat lol. I understand that not everyone in the world will have access to a farmer or 12, I was just pointing out that many who say they can't, can.. they either don't want to or assume they won't be able to for some reason. That's the thing.. that's where all these misconceptions are coming from.... assumptions. Nobody's really looking into making that change. Which is fine! They aren't horrible people for it; just adding to the convo lol....
I think Supermarket is the nice option to buy everything in one place and you can save your time. Moreover if we see that our all desired things are available at one place. In this way it is the perfect place to give importance to the supermarket. but if we talk about meat and butcher then I think to buy meat from a butcher is the right option because there you can get fresh meat.
I am really funny about the quality of meat and prefer to buy direct from a butcher than a supermarket. The butcher in my village is ridiculously expensive though. I recently found a butcher in a local town that sells a huge bag of meat for just £20. This is about $30. It lasted me for nearly two weeks. I plan to buy from there reguarly now.
Lately I've been buying in the butcher in the supermarket, it's a new supermarket that has a butcher inside so they cut the meat in the moment, it's not been packed for days, so I am happy with the quality and price. The most important is that the meat is fresh.
I love buying meats at the butcher when I am flushed with money. I love the beef standing rib roast at Easter time. Next, I enjoy the whole chicken you can get from the butcher. Meat from the butcher is fresher tasting.
In fact, in the butcher they have another sort of presentation that in the supermarket doesn't exist. They prepare the meat on another way, with more care and some meats are even seasoned and let me tell you, they might be more expensive, but they are delicious!
I prefer to buy the meat from the butcher. I believe that the supermarket food is not always at its best and although they offer enough of discounts on certain occasion, it is still not enough. I prefer to always buy from the butcher.
After reading the opinion of every member it seems that every one approximately everyone including me prefer to buy meat from a butcher rather than a supermarket. What do you think guys Am I right? But here the question is that why people prefer a butcher than a supermarket due to its price or quality ?
I won't even go to a butcher unless I know where the meat comes from. I did find a couple in my last city that I could buy from, but otherwise, it matters too much to me what I'm eating. I don't eat meat now, but my family does so we're on the search again now that we've moved. It hasn't been top on the priority list, but in the mean time, we won't be buying grocery store meats. It's quality is awful no matter how they look and their sources unethical. Huge taste difference too. They just aren't clean places to buy food.
I think that most of us, unless we are seriously broke, prefer a good quality meat over the supermarket one that can sit on those shelves for days, that doesn't seem healthy at all. On the other extreme there are the local producers like you mention Josie, that's the premium meat, it has a whole new level of quality.
