Kids should drink enough milk when they're young so there bones can be stronger. An article I read recently on frugal living suggested that kids should drink more water instead. So you like dilute the milk, add a little sugar and you won't have to spend too much on milk. Isn't this going too far?
I agree that adding water to milk is going too far. There are smarter ways to save money on milk. My daughter loves milk, so I buy a gallon just for drinking. Then I buy a can of dry whole milk called Nido by Nestle and I use the dry milk (with water added) for all the recipes that need milk. Since I'm not using my gallon of milk for cooking, it lasts longer. And a big can of dry milk lasts me about 3 months.
If milk made bones stronger we would see evidence of this. Its bad for us. We are the only species that drinks the milk of another animal. It's toxic to our bodies.
I'm so lucky that I don't have to worry about spending money on buying milk at the moment because I'm breastfeeding my baby and I plan to until she is 2 years old or as long as she wants to. My husband and I don't really like having milk on our coffee or tea so we don't need it, unless we have a cereal for breakfast. I would never add more water and sugar on milk because the taste would be just disgusting. I have tried this in the past it didn't taste great at all.
