I am considering buying a smartphone, and I just noticed that Amazon is offering the best prices. At the same time, buying at Amazon doesn't offer me many warranties in case the phone malfunctions... Anyone can give me feedback on this, are they reliable in terms of warranty?

Amazon is great for smartphones. I've bought 3 smartphones from them for me and my family and they are in perfect condition. You will get 1-year manufacturer warranty from amazon. In case the product is damaged, you will get an exchange if reported within 30 days. Amazon is not concerned with the warranty part, it's the manufacturer who provides the warranty. Anyways, you can go ahead with Amazon. They are a highly trusted brand and such problems are rare.

Yes I agree that Amazon is a highly and reliable online store. I also have a cousin who bought a smartphone from Amazon and I don't think she has any complains about it since it's working perfectly fine for her and she enjoys it so much. I think they also have a 1 year warranty if you bought it brand new, just like when you do at a local store. Just don't forget to check the seller's feedback and see if they are trusted :)

I haven't bought a smartphone from Amazon, but do buy items from Amazon all the time. I liked the $35 to get free shipping, now it's $49 for free shipping. Customer service is good and the seller feedback for questions is very good and fast too. Everything comes quickly and safely, but when there's a problem I always leave a feedback. I bought items that are small, and sometimes it might get lost. 2 items were that way from my experience. I got in contact with the seller and discussed it with them of what to do. The items arrived finally and it was okay. I like amazon and walmart too is very good to buy from. I bought a microwave oven shipped through the mail defective from the manufacturer. Walmart took it back no questions asked and I got a refund. Then we ordered recently a oxygen meter and it came so quickly within a week, standard usps time and we were very happy. Anything may happen. I know Amazon has a very good reputation when it comes to online selling. The problem I have noticed the sellers themselves who trick their prospective buyers. They post the image of the item to be sold at Amazon website and everything. But when the item is finally shipped to the buyer, the box contains nothing except the picture of the item. I don't know if it is the responsibility of the Amazon to refund the money paid or whatever. Anyway, I am not generalizing it. This is only for your info in case you haven't known it yet and it is for your protection also.

I used to love Amazon and go there for a lot of my everyday items. I recently had some issues with the site though and it just caused me to change things up a bit. I still use it quite a bit but less for those everyday items.

I have bought only ebooks from Amazon. I have not bought other items on Amazon because Amazon does not ship products to my home country. I once received 300 Indian Rupees gift voucher for Amazon.in. The voucher is going to expire soon and I am unable to use it.

Thanks for the feedback guys! I've bought before on Amazon too, that's only why I am considering them, but lower value items, like books and CDs. This particular phone is not that expensive, $252 with free shipping, but it's already a good investment for me, so I am thinking twice.

I bought my last smartphone from Amazon and think I got a great price on it. It was refurbished, but I have no problem with that! It works much better than the previous phone I had which became subject to crashing. I have had some recent problems with Amazon with shipping and delivery but it was a product that was not fulfilled by Amazon so if you use an unknown seller, you kind of take potluck.

Yeah, Amazon has to be the best to save price, even more if it's refurbished, but I didn't took that chance and bought mine locally. Instead of one year warranty given by Amazon, I have two, so I am better served and it's not such a big difference in price. Maybe next time I'll get one from Amazon.

That's one thing I watch out for when buying phones warranty. I am always skeptical about a new phone because I believe any phone or brand could disappoint. If I am sure of a warranty or guarantee then I wouldn't worry much even if I am spending huge sum buying the phone. I was had a phone the battery malfunctioned just after six months. The warranty was for one year, so I took it back to customer care and had a new battery entirely put in.

Yeah, it's important to buy in a retailer we trust because many times new phones are not exactly "new", as they have old parts. It's sad that this happens, but it's the reality of the market.

At the same time a new phone can have a battery that malfunctions @tonyb@tonyb, so nothing like having a good warranty!

If the new phone has a battery thar malfunctions @to7update@to7update so long it's still under warranty that won't be any problem. All the buyer needs to do is request for another battery. You wouldn't have to go spend extra money buying battery that may end up not being original

Not only smartphones, I do not buy any of the electronic gadget if there's no warranty. I have brought two phones and couple of other electronic gadgets from Amazon so far, and fortunately all of them are working fine. Amazon is a reliable store to buy from though the warranty will be provided by the brand of the product that you'll be choosing.

I am planning to buy a smartphone from an online store; preferably Amazon or Snapdeal deprnding on where I get good price. I have never bought a cellphone through online stores but know of my collegues who always buy online and have always been happy with their products. So I guess it is relatively safe as long as the manufacturer provides the warranty.

Yeah, everything has warranty. I've heard that iPhones are really reliable, and being this a fairly old model I am not expecting any surprises, but we never really know do we. I will just use it well, learn and hope that it turns out a good model.

Amazon is absolutely one of the best places to buy things online, and for the very cheapest prices too! You will really not find such a low down, mark down anywhere else, as they say. I have found things at ten times off of the regular retail price, just by choosing to invest in an account, a bit of time and research, and a little bit of money.

I tend to buy from Amazon because of the A-to-Z guarantee. If anything is wrong with the product then you can return it for a refund. I have had only one case where the phone I received was not as described (I bought third party through Amazon marketplace) which I returned for a refund with no problems.

In terms of a longer term warranty I don't know, but then the phones have worked until I sold them on to upgrade so I've never needed to use one.

Yeah, that is reassuring indeed, I could have saved some money if I had bough mine there, but an online retailer to buy an expensive phone seems risky even for me, that consider myself liberal when buying online. Maybe next time I will take advantage of their great discounts.

It is quite funny that you should be mentioning this right now. Why? Well, guess just where I happen to be at right now---shopping through Amazon! I know that both Amazon and E-Bay are perhaps the absolute best websites to purchase new or used items from, and so I did!
