I like to call it off season buying, and it's a great way to save money. myself have not been able to follow this trend of buying. but my uncle has, he always buys items during their low season, for example, during holiday seasons, he buys his children school items, and during back to school season, he buys holiday clothes. he is quite disciplined and he saves a lot .
