We have bought a total of 3 digital cameras using rechargeable batteries. The first one and the 3rd camera both use the AAA batteries so they are somewhat compatible. But the second camera uses the flat battery called Nicad (Nickel cadmium). We are in the process of buying a new digital camera but this is the caveat - battery should be AAA so it is common and cheap. That nicad is difficult to find and now I think it is already obsolete.
