I decided that I had to start economizing the way I spent my money on grocery shopping. So I decided to try buying cheap brands. This has really helped me to reduce some unnecessary expenses anf to focus on things i really need. It's amazing the amount of money I have been able to save. There is nothing wrong with cheap brands. On most occassions, I get the same quality I would get from expensive brands.
You are so right. And really, why pay more if you don't have to? I had to teach this to my husband early on as well. He was a brand snob, lol. One of those people who thought that if it costs more it's automagically better. He's much better now (looking over my shoulder now... haha). No, but seriously, he's pretty good at finding bargains these days, and he's proud of it when he does. I'm especially this way when it comes to staples, like sugar, flour, salt, etc. I see no reason to pay twice as much for the same thing (specialty options aside, such as pre-sifted flour etc). Hey, there's always someplace else to spend the money you saved, right?
Personally, I really do not mind eating something that is not popular. Just because it doesn't have a commercial on TV or is not endorse by what's his/her face doesn't mean that it's no good. I have had my share of some good tasty things that really don't cost much but as to everything, it's always best to keep an open and alert mind because there are also plenty of crap around.
I too like the store brands for they are cheaper. I checked the store brands nutritional numbers as I check everything I buy for the nutritional value. I found the store brands are a lot more nutritional too compared to what's on sale. I like the taste of store brand foods and products. Except for the automatic toothbrushes store brand is exceptionally nutritional and inexpensive to boot! I bought 2 store brand battery toothbrushes and it does not work well and long. My store brand battery run toothbrushes lasted me a month. I went back to Oral-B. I'll not switch battery run toothbrushes again.
