In the past year, a friend of mine has put herself in debt through loans from credit unions. She started out taking out a loan to move. It was relatively small, a little over a thousand. So then she went to another CU because her car needed repairs. On top of that she was having to pay back a ton of payday advances. So she needed even more.
Anyhow, she confessed to me the other night that she was nearly $13,000 in debt from all of this. She had managed to pay off all of the payday advance places so she was done with that. But she still had all of these loans to pay off.
I wasn't sure where to begin with telling her how to dig her way out of this. I know very little about finance and how to manage debt the right way. So I was hoping that maybe I could get some tips from you guys.
She's really young, not even in her thirties yet. I hate to see her in such turmoil.
Thanks in advance for any help you can offer!
