New models of electronic items are expensive. However, it's not good to buy old models because they are almost obsolete. With computers, I always wait for the end of the year sale which is usually on big discount. The same with phones, I can only afford those on sale.

In December this year, I will buy a new computer with the hope that I can get a good deal in the sale.

When I purchase an electronic I always plan on keeing it for as long as I can even if the features are not up to date. After some years if my product no longer works I look into getting a cheap replacement that comes with features I will put to use. I usually don't carry the newest models or trends.

Never did I buy something newly released regardless if it is a phone or a laptop. As long as my old gadgets still work and can perform what task I use them for I won't be replacing them and buy a new one. Gagdets aren't something I invest my money into, there was one time my phone broke after 3 to 4 years of me using it, I bought a used phone that is really cheap and can perform quite a bit mich like the new ones. I would rather save my money and buy stock shares, my money might end up earning 50 to 100 percent or more after 10 years, if I bought a phone with that money, it won't have value anymore after 10 years.

That is a good plan of not buying the latest model of the product you want to buy or for an upgrade. Phones especially are always being upgraded to the latest technology and surpluses those products are exposed to the lower or the cheapest price. Anyway, you could still available its basic services only the OS (operating system) sometimes is upgraded and some features or applications.

I rarely buy something that just got released simply because I don't need the extra features some manufacturers bring to the table. I do my research properly and buy what fits my needs, there's no point in spending extra for stuff that you'll not be able to get full advantage of.
Sticking to the middle-ground is probably the way to go. I see a lot of people that buy expensive phones but they only use them to browse Facebook and Instagram. That's not a good return for your money.

No, I'm happy to use an old model until the prices of the newer models drop or I find a good bargain somewhere else, like a 2nd hand one. I also think that some brands are overpriced though, and you are better off saving your money buying those cheaper brands. They function just the same way anyway. My dad owns a $75 Android phone from a cheap brand, and it is still working fine from 2014 until now.

Having the latest and greatest device on the market is something that I'm not too worried about anymore to be honest. When I was younger and brands maybe brought out a new model every 2 or 3 years then I always tried to upgrade and have the latest device, but these days, as brands are sometimes upgrading their products 2 or 3 times a year, it's not financially viable for me to try and keep up.

Well I am pretty much inclined towards buying what my heart is set upon regardless of the trend. I buy what I need, want and like, period.

This obviously doesn't make me fall into the category of people who are buying the new lauches. Nevertheless, it doesn't make me any primitive either.

When it comes to gadgets and electronic devices, I choose not to buy the latest models. First of all, it's obvious that they will be too expensive especially since they are new releases. The other thing is that most people will have it, especially if that model is the flagship of a certain company so more often than not, people will buy it right after it's release. I don't know why but I never became excited with new release phones or laptops, probably because mobile companies are releasing a lot of models every year.

Furthermore, I don't see the need to buy a new phone or gadget or upgrade to a new one when I can still use my current gadget properly :)

I agree, when a new version of a phone is launched which has now become a regular feature of almost every company despite the fact that do not change much (in some cases they even reduce the facilities or features). Common people do not understand these things but they wish to upgrade immediately. I never change my phone unless I see they have added a useful feature and wait at least for 2-3 months when the rates come down to a reasonable limit.

I try to always get the latest model of whatever it is but if it happens to be too expensive I would be rather happy to get something from last year if it is just as good and I save money.

I don't buy the latest model, I don't buy any product as soon as it is launched in the market. A latest model is always costly and the product that is launched in the market recently is also expensive. I run my life in a limited budget, thus, I try to avoid buying latest model and new product. I will buy when the latest model becomes old.

I wouldn't say I live my life on a limited budget but I still avoid buying the latest model immediately after its launch because that is the time when it costs most. Being a marketing professional I know it has become the policy of companies to allure customers in the name of new facilities which are not as new or useful as they sound. So it is better to understand your needs first before joining the rat race.

No, I do not buy the latest model every time. Following reasons support my decision.
    1. The latest model is expensive. Prices tend to come down after a while as the product's sales increase.
    2. Nobody knows how the product is going to perform. As a first customer, we have to bear the risk of product failures.
    3. There are no reviews. As the model is new, there are no reviews/expert opinions as to how the product is performing.
    4. You can get the same model at a discounted price if you wait for a couple of months or during the festival seasons.
