That's the survivalist mentality. People who build bunkers in their basement and the like, believe that canned goods can last until ten years later or longer. Somehow, many of us have fallen into that belief.

Of course I do. These slick product managers push the new products to the back of the shelf, leaving the old ones outside. I made it a habit to always check, but not to the extent that I have to get the one that last the longest. I just make sure that the time span is enough for me to finish consuming whatever it is that I'm buying.

Yes I do. I think this is a lesson we all have had to learn through experience when we first started to do the grocery shopping on our own. I go grocery shopping once a week and its very important that the food stuffs last as long as possible. A friend of mine who use to work in a grocery store told me that they place the new stock at the back of the shelf and the old ones in front. That way, the ones that are near the expiration date are bought first. It is now second nature to me to check the expiration dates of products at the back of the shelves and compare them to the ones placed in front.

I have a bad habit of not checking the expiration date on the package foods i buy, and I really should start, but I'm always in a rush. I can't count how many times I have gotten sick from eating expired foods, and the worst place to buy food is the corner store, their foods could be on the shelf for who knows how long, maybe even years. Its there an health inspector that monitor these guys?

Dude you're taking your life into your own hands living that way. And yes I never buy food from corner stores unless they're like New York deli's which are actually quite good and persistent about keeping stuff fresh and up to date. But those small, hole in the wall stores no way.

I am guilty of not checking the expiration dates for most of the products I buy, except for medicines. I don't know why I always forget about checking it when I buy something. At the end of the day, I am jeopardizing with my health by showing the carelessness.

You're more than likely to die from bad hot dogs than you are bad or past date Advil. Just sayin'.
