@FergusMacLeod Same here. I am not fond of more sweet, but drinks like tea and coffee, I can't think about them without sugar. So how you are thinking to avoid the sugar in them? Have you ever tried sugar free? I was trying out sugar free in the past which tastes exactly as sugar in this drink. But I wonder if it is safe to consume them everyday.
I always take tea in the morning with sugar I won't be able to do that if I am to stop taking sugar for fear of diabetes. I try to cut down on my consumption of soft drinks I go for the diet drinks that contain less sugar. If your blood Insulin level is normal I don't think you'll have problem with taking sugar, anyway there should be some control. A friend of mine doesn't take sugar and can drink tea or coffee without sugar for health reasons, I have always wondered how he gets to enjoy his tea or coffee without sugar.
I do use sugar but not as much as I was using it when I was a bit younger. I think about my health now so I check what I eat, I never actually stopped using sugar but I did cut the way I use it. I only use it when I drink coffee or bake a cake which are both occasional. But I'm planning on taking lesser sugar until I can quit using it since it really isn't good for the body.
I agree sugar is unhealthy and people having tendency of gaining weight easily should avoid sugar in all forms including eating rice and potato. But as I mentioned earlier also that I have no history of diabetes or tendency of gaining fat so I least care about the quantity of sugar. However I eat everything within a limit and not whatever comes my way.
I don't think there is a way to purely stay away from sugar as some foods turn into sugar once they are being digested. As for me however, I don't generally stay away from sugar, but from foods with very high calories. Most foods that have a high calorie count is usually filled with sugar anyways, because it's a proven fact that sugar is more addicting than cocaine.
A like to add a little bit of honey to my oatmeal once in awhile-and this gives you less of a spike to your blood sugar than table sugar. You might want to buy it from your local beekeeper though, because its usually raw and unfiltered this way. Also honey can give you a great and quick boost in energy and it is very good for allergies as well.
Sugar can become an addiction to lots of people. I love a bit of sweetness sometimes but I try to avoid being over indulgent in my sugar intake. I will not totally eliminate sugar from my diet as some people may recommend as the best thing to do. I will have to continue to get that zip from the consumption of sugar in one form or the other because I will always crave that moment. I will, however, try to curb my sugar intake and keep it at a moderate level because I know too much of this substance could bring about some serious implications.
I don't think that I'm taking too much sugar so I really don't feel that I'm jeopardizing my health with it. I rarely drink coffee and tea. I'd occasionally have my sweet treats - chocolates, cakes, and leche flan but since it's not that often, I don't feel guilty about eating them. My blood sugar had always been within normal range and because I'm exercising regularly, I'm burning the excess calories off. I also eat small meals throughout the day.
I have no health issues that demand less consumption of sugar. I have a sweet tooth and yield to that craving. I love chocolates and other goodies. I am ok with it My blood count in fact shows less than the normal minimum and so I am safe.
In my everyday consumption, I do have some sugar. And for this reason I think consuming sugar is one thing to note there as well. You can see that sugar often may be bad and it gets the weight to gain. So that's one more reason I am consuming things with moderation. And I am guessing this also means that I have to cut out on the junk food. It'd be lot better for my health in that case.
I am so weird when it comes to my sugar intake. I take brown sugar because it is said to be healthier than white sugar. I can't say I have a sweet tooth as such. I take sugar in moderation and do not necessarily crave or indulge in sweet things to an excess. However, you cannot leave me alone in a room full of freshly baked sweet goods they will be greatly reduced in a small time. I love sweet sponge cakes, and all types of sweet baked goods.
I tend to consume quite the amount of sugar. Whether they be drinks, cereal or bake goods I usually managed to get my hands on them at least twice a week. I'm a bit addicted to it and spend a bit too much just to fulfill my sweet tooth.
