Being ready for the unexpected such as a fire in the home is of the utmost importance. Having escape routes, teaching ourselves and children to stop, drop and crawl to safety and everything else regarding scenarios if a fire occurs.

The one thing that came to mind is the use of a fire extinguisher in the home even better when not to use a fire extinguisher. They are designed for those small fires that can be easily contained without having to alert the fire department. So while it's sitting there perched on a wall or somewhere it's easily accessible, what point do you just leave it and make your escape?
