More of a mental note rather than a list. The usual stuff, eggs, milk, paper, cereal, sugar, etc, I don't need a list for. But I do ask people if they would like me to get them anything specific and different. It's nice to have a change from the usual food stuff.
I hardly do, even when there are tonnes of things to buy (hardly, but IF) because we already know what to get. I do admit sometimes we can forget a thing or two, but we still don't use a shopping list even after that. I do agree, if you're specifically shopping for home supplies, one that you do weekly or monthly, it's not that hard to forget. Only if you're out to buy a lot of things out of the ordinary, there's a higher possibility of you forgetting it. Having a good memory of the shopping mall's layout helps too. You can practically scan the whole mall before you checkout to see what did you miss.
We are living on one income and we buy our essentials on a weekly basis as well. Our grocery list has saved us a considerable amount of time and money. It has definitely cut down on forgetting things or purchasing products that we already had. We are currently creating a price list to go accompany our grocery list. While it is time consuming, it has been very helpful in cutting costs and increasing our awareness of when prices drop or rise.
We don't get to save when both me and my wife goes to a grocery store, we kept picking up junkfoods and some mixed nuts to eat in preparation to our movie time I think I have to gradually stop watching movies because of this. One time we drank too much soda since she picked up a bunch of it since she knows we'll be watching a movie.
Yes, I always make a shopping list before I go shopping so that I will not be tempted to pick up things that I do not need at the moment. I pretty much stick to a budget and if I do be tempted to pick up something it may be one or two items not on my list or other wise I will do it this way, I will leave it while I am shopping for the other things and if my memory doesn't stay on it, well I will go home without that extra item. That way I save that money and don't feel guilty or over spend.
Yes. I have to make a grocery list otherwise I would forget a lot of things. I swear I have short term memory so having a reminder is essential. Also, as you mentioned to it keeps you on track not to overspend when on a tight budget.
I work through weekdays and get back late so I usually go shopping for a week at a time. I do make a shopping list because I'm always worried I'll forget to buy something I really needed. Also, since its weekly shopping, there is a lot to purchase and little things are often omitted when you don't make a list.
I do! I still buy things outside of the list, but I feel like by writing a list, I guarantee that I get the things that I for sure need. Otherwise, I'd go in there, grab a whole bunch of stuff, and none of it would go together. I'd end up having to stop at the store again and it'd waste more money.
I do make a shopping list. Sometimes I'll go off the list if I see something on clearance or a good sale. When I don't use a list, I inevitably forget things so I've learned my lesson and I write everything down.
I am always the forgetful one also. That gives me the main reason to make a list so I won't for get myseasonings and other small items that I may need. I look around into the cabinets and refrig. to see what's needed and I go according to that and try not to add those don't need items.
Yes, we make a grocery list for all our shopping. It helps me limit the amount of impulse purchases I make and if I have a complete list it makes it less likely for me to forget something and have to go back to the store. I always find if I have to stop back by the store to pick up one or two more things I end up walking out with way more than I even need.
I always make a list every time but end getting things that are not on the list i write a list and my husband goes down every aisle seeing what he wants
I shop every other week so I definately need a list so I don't forget anything. I hate going grocery shopping so I really don't want to have to go back just to get a forgotten item or two.
I think I should start making a list because judging from the replies, you avoid spending more money that way. Without a grocery list I just spend at the spur of the moment, and really that can hurt my wallet. I wasn't into writing a list out before I go to the grocery store, but now I'll just type the list in my smartphone.
I always make a shopping list in Microsoft Word and even add in a column to write in the amount of the coupons that I have for each item. I haven't just gone into a market to grab groceries without a game plan in years. I always have to have it all planned out or I will go over my budget. It is worth the time and effort because I save so much.
