Painting the walls is pretty easy. Buy some sandpaper, paint and brushes and you're ready to go! The same goes for painting doors, the windows or the fence. But how many of us do this? Hiring a specialist is more convenient but it also costs good money, money that could be saved by doing it yourself. The first time you paint something may be hard, but once you start you'll be surprised of how easy it becomes!
Everything has a formula. I agree 100%. I've never thought of sanding the wall first before painting. That could be the reason why the paint would peel off the walls I'd painted pretty fast. My lack of knowledge cost me some money because once the paint starts peeling off, you have just once option. But armed with this knowledge, things will be different when painting the house anew becomes necessary.
I have painted the inside of my home plenty of times. I'm at the point now where I enjoy paint and redesigning the interior of my home with beautiful colors that fits the mood of each room. However, I have never considered painting the exterior of my home. I believe that exterior painting is too big of a task for little ol' me.
If it is the exterior you are painting or a fence, a pressure washer is your best friend. Rent one if you need to do so. It is a good way to not only clean the surface being painted but to get rid of any loose chips of paint that may cause the new layer to crack and peel. Just make sure to let the surface dry totally before trying to paint. I will generally take on a painting job myself. The exception is when there are high points and it is too dangerous for me to do the work. People who do this for a living have the right ladders for the task and sometimes paying the painter is a lot less than the medical bills after falling. Because I am painting what is mine, I think I pay a little more care and attention to what I am doing. I think I get a better result if I do the painting myself. I just make sure to do it in sections if the job is large so that I don't end up rushing and getting sloppy.
Yes, painting the wall is really excited work and i love to do. Every year i always paint my walls before christmas occasion.
Pfft I do all my own decorating myself, except for wallpapering - I can't do that so we don't have any papered walls in the house. I'm currently in the process of decorating my girlfriend's house and this involved laying carpet, painting walls and wood, fixing the broken doors, replacing radiators and plumbing in a washing machine and a dishwasher. I found out how to do all of this by watching videos on YouTube!
I prefer doing the painting myself especially if the area to paint is not too big. I hate complaining how others do work so doing it myself makes thing so much easier as I know what and how exactly I want things to be. It's also costs a lot cheaper to do it on my own as most people nowadays charge a lot even for a little thing. But since I'm a short person and I'm scared going up the ladder, that's when I need help from someone who is much taller which is my husband
I only did this when I first moved into my house, but I think I did a pretty good job. Like it was mentioned, using sandpaper beforehand is pretty essential, as not only does it remove the previous coat of paint, it will also create a roughness in your wall that will allow the new coat of paint to stick better and for longer.
Yes, painting is one of my favorite things to do. I paint minis, model airplanes and the house, its just very fun for me and I look forward to painting.
Even though I'm a renter, I have painted apartments before so that I wouldn't have to look at plain white walls, for the duration of my lease, but I painted them white again before I moved out. I've never hired a professional to do anything because I can't afford it. My current landlord doesn't really fix anything so I recently installed a new showerhead myself. You can find directions for most things on the internet.
No, I am terrible at painting walls. When it comes to the corners, I am the worst. Also, I lack the patience to make sure the paint goes on evenly. Last year, I got the walls of my home painted. They really needed it. And guess what, I was happy to pay someone. Three guys showed up and they were done in a half a day. It was worth the money. My walls still look good.
Same here, I only paint the interior of our house and leave the exterior to my husband. I also do a little paint design like a guitar pattern using stencil. I also created a window-like design (Japanese style) in my daughters room. I have to put in a little design from time to time to make painting more interesting otherwise I would get bored with it.
I painted my apartment with my boyfriend. At my parents house my dad always used to paint by himself and asked me and brother to help so that's how I learned. He also took us to help paint my grandmas house every once in a while. I actually had to teach my boyfriend how to paint. It's pretty easy and I find it
