I always try and buy organic. There are a local business who ship nearby us, they collect produce from local farmers, and then you can order what you want online; and pick it up at their house. It's a trust thing that no one will come along and pick up the boxes, but you can't really tell what's in there. Anyway, personally I think that organic food both tastes and is better for you.
I do for some things, but it depends on what the food is. Organic doesn't necessarily mean all natural so it's worth it with some things, but not necessarily with others. I also have access to home garden grown foods from time to time and I shop at the farmer's market. I'm about to start growing more of my own foods, though for a while I am sticking to leafy vegetables as far as new plants are concerned.
Oh yeah, my family only buys organic ingredients, but rarely, mostly because the entire family has farms and stuff, so we share between for what we need. As my opinion, i think the difference makes it worth it.
Considering the ability to be labeled organic is based on federal standards I don't know about that. Further more the only thing that differs about pesticides is if the pesticides are "natural" so you can have things like ricin all over your food, but that's fine because you know... "natural".
No, I really don't buy organic stuff at all, because I'm not much of a health buff anyway, so I just buy the regular produced ones. Maybe if the price of organic food was heavily discounted, then I'd probably buy it.
We buy from local farmers. Either way, in the long run we're paying less for food. In some cases it's more expensive, in others, not so much. It all works out. And like they say.. even if it is more expensive, it's cheaper than being sick. So when you eat poorly, that's exactly what you're investing in.
