Nope, I dislike watching TV on the computer. I don't like to stare at the monitor for hours without doing anything on it. Also, I'm old school, I believe that TV should be watched using a TV. Furthermore, I like to enjoy movies and shows on a large screen as opposed to my small monitor screen.
Since my internet connection is very slow, streaming would be a very incovenient way to watch TV. If I can't download something [and most streaming sites don't let you do that] then I can't waste my time trying to watch a TV show with lengthy pauses [when the internet connection drops] and stuff because it takes the fun what you're watching.
When I was a freshman in college, the computer was my only source of television. Thank goodness for my sisters Netflix account or I don't know how I would have survived. I still use my laptop to watch television sometimes but I usually plug it into my TV via HDMI. There are a lot more shows and movies to watch on the web compared to my basic cable.
I do watch a good number of movies and TV shows on my computer/laptop, but I haven't cut the cord on my cable just yet, though admittedly I rarely use it anymore and I've been thinking of finally cutting it for some time now. The only reason I haven't cut it yet is because I still get a good amount of my shows on TV because I'm not a U.S. resident and a lot of their shows aren't available in my country when I try to watch them online. I really hope they just start offering their services internationally though because I'd gladly just pay Netflix or a similar service for a fraction of what I pay for my cable now instead.
I'd say very close to 100% - though I don't watch broadcast telly. Here's a tip for UK folks, save yourself around £130 a year by not paying the TV license - the conditions are such that a license only needs to be paid if you watch broadcast telly. Everything can be streamed from prerecorded streams or downloaded nowadays such that in my opinion, broadcasting is a thing of the past (why restrict myself to exact time schedules when I can watch whatever and whenever I like via appropriate channels)
I watch almost all my series on my laptop. It's just easier because I don't have to watch ads and I can watch whenever I want. I also watch some things on TV but it is just to pass the time instead of really follow a series.
I don't watch TV on my TV. Literally, all of my favorite shows are the ones I watch on my computer. You could find almost every episode of your favorite TV show online. You can get them in different ways, through torrents, direct downloads, online streaming, etc. Honestly, I love the fact that a computer is a much easier and accessible way to watch TV shows and movies. I guess it's bad for directors, products, and practically everyone that works in showbiz, but at least people can appreciate the work of great TV shows. So most of the time, I watch new shows and movies on my laptop or computer. Rarely do I turn on my television.
Yes. I use my computer to watch tv all the time. In fact i have my CPU connected to my 55 inch LED High Definition Television. It is a really great entertainment experience. I stream movies from Netflix directly to my TV. It worked really well after i bought a wireless keyboard, and mouse. now i can use my computer sitting on the couch as well.
The problem with such methods is that when the internet will be down you will not be able to watch your popular shows. It is better to have the cable and have no worries of missing your shows. Sometimes we should consider reliability over cost.
I've been watching almost all of my shows from my computer these days - probably for about the last year and a half now, since my main TV is in storage until I move again. I don't really mind it at all, since I have a rather large monitor (it's like 27" I believe), so it's practically like watching a regular TV anyhow. Also, I get most of my shows online to begin with, so it saves me a step of having to transfer them to a USB stick to watch them on my larger television. My only real gripe is when it comes to watching TV for a long period of time. It gets kind of uncomfortable sitting in a computer chair right in front of your screen to watch a long movie, for example. But most of the time I just have the shows on in the background while I am working on other things on my computer. The other issue I've noticed is that some streaming services, such as Netflix, for whatever reason seem to be major resource hogs and will often slow my computer down as a whole - making it difficult to work on other stuff while I am watching something on there. I think it is an issue with Silverlight though, which they are supposedly doing away with.
I use my computer to watch TV all of the time! I stream on my laptop a lot, and I use it to watch Netflix. I think that everyone watches TV on their laptops. When I was in university during lectures, I noticed that at least a few students during each lecture would be watching something on their laptop. Laptops are great for so many things!
Yeah, I also watch a lot of stuff on my laptop these days. With the advent of services like Netflix, Hulu and Amazon Prime, people have started watching more tv shows on their PCs instead of their TVs. These companies, especially Netflix, is now a huge threat to the traditional cable companies in the sense that they are making people to cancel their cable subscriptions and are reducing these companies' profits.
I do watch TV on my PC, but I prefer streaming stuff from my PC to my TV. It makes for a nicer experience overall, especially when playing games or streaming various HD shows.
I tried to do this before, but I really find the reception rather bad all the time. I'm sure my internet connection is good yet I can never get it right. I got tried of trying so I would rather just use the real TV to watch. I would also prefer to watch movies and videos instead of watching TV. I think the internet is more worthwhile for those types of things.
