I do sometimes buy DVDs when it's a movie that I know I'll want to watch many times. I love some movies so much that I never get tired of them,so in those cases it's worth it to me to own a hard copy.
Hi SLTE! Let me tell you, the internet has definitely spoiled us. I haven't bought DVD's in about 5 or 6 years. Nowadays you can get Netflix, or see the movies you want to see on of bunch of sites where you can stream the movies for free. These 2 options are of little to no cost and take no space at all. I wonder what the future will hold for us? How will we see movies in the future? Will TV screens become obsolete and we end up seeing movies in holograms? Who knows!
I have this application on my smartphone, called Showbox. I have no idea whether or not it is available for other countries or not, but I have it and I live in the UK. It is not on google play store. But it is amazing. All of the movies fresh off of the big screen are on there and you can either choose to stream or download. On top of that they have full seasons of most TV shows. Family Guy, Charmed, Empire, Top Model. All the episodes are there, and they update daily.
I started buying Blu-Rays of movies off Amazon this past year. Not anything over the top but ones I love. Hopefully Blu-Ray isn't phased out by this Ultra 4K shit.
I still buy DvD's often. I don't have satellite or cable, nor do I have Hulu or Netflix, so my movies are what I watch. My TV does not have internet and I don't feel like sitting at my PC or staring at my phone. So I often buy DvD's still. I sometimes buy new ones, but usually I buy the older movies that I haven't seen in ages. Plus, they're so much cheaper nowadays, especially compared to Blu-ray discs so it works out well for me.
I cannot say that I have bought a DVD in years, and I am pretty sure that I am not alone there. It has just gone the way of online now, and you can pretty much find anything that you would want just with a simple search. I remember a couple of years ago there was about four DVD rental stores around town and the last one is closing its doors right now. Just goes to show you how times change.
