I'm pretty sure I won't ever use my prom dress again. In fact, I didn't even really like it. I mean it's a nice dress, but I wasn't very comfortable in it and I actually regret going to prom. But anyway, it was an expensive dress so maybe I can make some money out of it instead of just donating it. I'm not sure where to sell it or donate it though. What did you do with your old prom dress?
I would say to see your prom dress. You would get more out of it than donating it. I did the mistake to sell it to a thrift store which did not give me much for it but at the time I really needed the money no matter how much it was.
If it is a nice prom dress and in very good shape, I'd give it to my parents and have them donate it so they can claim a tax deduction. Let's assume that the dress is valued at approximate $120 in its condition at the time it is donated. At that quoted value, it is worth a $40 tax deduction to your parents which they could give you up front. Of course, if the dress is valued at a higher dollar amount, the deduction would be proportionally greater as well.
I didn't use my prom dress again, so I gave it to my younger sister. We have the same body type so it will be of good use the following year for her prom dance.
Truthfully, after more than 15 years my prom dress is still hanged in my dresser. I have never worn it again after the prom too but I don't know why I still keep it in my closet. Maybe I'm just waiting for the right person whom to give it. Mine is not the typical prom looking dress so it can be used for any other occasion that needs formality. But I wouldn't hesitate to give it out to someone who would really need it someday.
We never had prom so I didn't had any chance to wear a dress. I think you should just sell it. Try to identify the type of material used in the dress so that other girls would have an idea if they're going to like it. If nobody buys it, you can save it until next prom year and maybe sell it to another girl.
I too would suggest selling the prom dress. There this one site I've heard of that which makes it a lot easier to sell a prom dress. There are numerous sites where you could sell your dress online but you'll need to visit many of them to find out where you'd sell your prom dress at the highest price. It's well worth it IMHO.
I believe if you can afford not to sell it that you should probably donate it to someone who is not able to afford a prom dress. I believe you would greatly enjoy the satisfaction of being able to make a significant difference in another person's life, we all know of the expectation of many persons to go to the prom.
I think it would be a good ide to donate to a local high school. That way a girl who can't afford a dress will still have the opportunity to experience prom. She'll be able to make memories and still get to wear and feel beautiful.
I think you are better off selling your clothes on Ebay using a Buy It Now method. You can list it indefinitely, and even if there is no current demand for the item, you'll never know who will stumble upon that item and buy it on your preferred price in the future.
You should try and sell it if it was expensive, as many shops sell gently worn items. If they don't sell it they usually then donate it to goodwill. Other than that you could put it online. It does depend on how much you want for it as people may buy it to resell if it is cheap enough.
Try to sell the fancy dress though amazon or ebay. You can perform some previous research and look for prices of similar apparel and then decide which price you'll give. Don't expect to sell something used for more than half the price.
Well, at the time I sold my prom dress, I was pretty strapped for cash. However, I sold it for a more than reasonable price on eBay. However, with that being said, if I didn't really need money, I would just donate the dress. The fact of the matter is that I new more than one girl that skipped out on prom because she couldn't afford the cost and the cost of the dress itself is a big part of that for a young lady. Sometimes parents do not have the money themselves to help out or think prom is silly and are just unwilling to pitch in. regardless of the reason, everyone should get to go to prom if he or she wants to do so.
If you're not strapped for cash, and you just want to clear it out of your closet, I think you should donate it. There are so many girls that would love to attend their prom, but the cost of a dress will keep them from attending.
