I just stumbled upon this gallery, linked below. Some dude wanted hardwood floors for his house and found that the cost was around $10,000-$15,000 (depending on the wood used). Luckily he got his hands on some wood pallets that he deconstructed, refurbished and transformed into floor boards. He managed to bring the total costs down to 600$ and it looks fantastic.
