I apologize if this posts twice- it's not on purpose. I have never encountered any difficulty in purchasing used products from Amazon. I have primarily purchased textbooks, which typically come from Amazon sellers instead of the Amazon warehouse. One of my family members did have some trouble with a coffeepot he bought used once. It made coffee, but the timer didn't work. He could not contact the original seller. When he called Amazon's customer service, they instantly refunded to his Paypal account and told him he could keep the coffeepot.

I've never had a problem. I even bought a nice set of slightly damaged pots and pans used there. I have also sold some books and dvds. I don't find it that profitable anymore though - too much competition - which of course makes it better for the consumer.

Rarely, if ever. Like you I often buy used books and it saves me tons of money! I often buy used DVDs and games too, as they are way cheaper though you have to be more careful than with books as even a slight damage to the item means the movie may skip or the game may not play at all. As a result I make it a point to watch the movie as soon as I receive it, before giving them feedback as after you've done that I doubt they'll bother to replace a damaged item.

I have bought a lot of things off of amazon. Anything from clothes to rings. Shoes and accessories. I do alot of my Christmas shopping every year on amazon. I have never had any issues with anything that I have ever bought off there. I have even bought new and used electronics. No issues. Amazon has always been number 1 in my book. I have no complaints about it. I will always be a loyal customer of amazon for sure!

Amazon is great for books, although I usually use ebay for everything else (I thought Amazon was only for books lol).

I just bought a used book last week actually, on Tarantulas. It arrived yesterday, and I was looking at it earlier (it's paperback) and the thought crossed my mind: "Wow. How is this used?" I always considered myself a particularly conscious user and keeper of books, but this doesn't even have a crease in the spine or a dulling to the sheen of the cover. Honestly the previous owner must not even have read it; even Jesus couldn't flip through all 400 pages of that book and have it coming out looking like that. Not unless he opened each page to a distance of only 3 inches using a pair of sterilized, rubber-tipped tongs, and read each line from edge to spine using a flashlight, mirror, and magnifying glass in conjunction.

Their rating system for what condition the used books are in (ebay uses this same system I believe) is extremely clear and direct.

Oh yea. But some of the non-book stuff I've bought off of Ebay has been pretty sketchy. Needless to say, I'm pretty weary of Chinese dealers by this point, lol.
