    Hi,

I went grocery shopping yesterday and I couldn't help but notice how the prices for basic items like body wash are really going up. Forget about 3 and 4 dollars and start thinking prices like 6 and 7 dollars for body wash. That is just too much for me!

I happened to see some Albert VO5 shampoo on sale for 79 cents a bottle. I bought a couple and am going to use that for body wash instead. Soap is soap, right? When I wash my hair in the shower, I get shampoo all over my body and I seem to have survived so far.

For actual shampoo, I'll still buy something with good quality but I refuse to pay over 5 bucks for soap to wash my body.

    No.

I just feel like shampoo was maid for hair, and body wash was made for everything else. I tried to just use body wash for my hair once, and I swear that I lost some clumps that week. It would be safer to use products as they are advertised. At least in my opinion.

I've used shampoo for body wash when I ran out of body wash. While I can imagine body wash damaging your hair, I can't imagine shampoo damaging your skin, so yeah, why not?

At some cheaper hotels, you often find an all in one product in the bathroom, labeled BodyWash-cum-Shampoo. I too have often wondered if alternating the use of each of them will harm the hair or skin. Even at my local gym, I've seen the cleaner woman pour the same soapy gel for both the Bodywash and Shampoo dispensers! So, I don't see why not. If we read the finer print, the ingredients for both are more or less the same.

    Yep, I sure have!

I've also used cheap conditioner as shaving cream before and it does wonders. There's no reason to spend a small fortune on body products when there are others that work just the same for a fraction of the cost sometimes.

You could always buy a large bottle of concentrated liquid and transfer that to a smaller bottle and water it down. It would last you much longer than buying individual expensive products and save you a small fortune over the long run.

Yes, soap is soap and aslong as it does its job, who cares if it's cheap.:)

As others have said, hotels and cruise liners often offer a double up product, which tells me there is not a lot of difference between the two. I would think the only time problems would arise is if you tried to use a specialised hair treatment as a body wash. Then the extra chemicals may disagree with your skin and cause a rash. However, I can't see any problem with using general all purpose shampoo as body wash.

I think I'd do the same if I was you too. I actually just ran out of my body wash. Lately I've seen the exact same thing. I've been buying the cheap $2 body wash at my local discount store. I can tell the difference between the creamy moisturizing body wash that's more expensive as opposed to the cheaper brand which leaves my skin drier. Despite all that, I agree with you. I can' afford to be buying body wash at $6-7 / bottle.

Well, I wouldn't use body wash for shampoo, hair does seem to need special products, but I'm going to try the shampoo for body wash...
