When it comes to ice cream, there is a huge number of different brands on the market today. Each of these brands offer something that is appealing, such as a delicious flavor or a cheap price. While some people have a brand of ice cream they swear by, others are not so fussy and are generally open to trying new brands and flavors. Each brand has their own unique style, and thus opinions are mixed about many brands. The cheaper brands generally sacrifice flavor for the price, with a weaker flavor or an odd taste to it. The more expensive brands have flavors unique to their company, which makes some people very loyal to that brand. What is your favorite brand of ice cream, and what is their best flavor?
Mine is Strauss Organic. I don't know how much of the country they sell to, but they are from California. I just love their chocolate ice cream. It is the only chocolate ice cream I truly love, every other brand just doesn't have that specialness they seem to have. I think it's the quality of the chocolate, it's Dutch chocolate. I also like their vanilla, has a great smooth texture. And it's organic and that makes it even better.
I love Ben and Jerry's for their variety and as mentioned above it is a more expensive brand and taste is not compromised. If I had to pick a cheaper brand there is only one flavor I really like from Thrifty, Pistachio. It holds up to the richness and flavor that I like in my ice cream and they put plenty of nuts in it. However, recently I have noticed a change and there is less and less nuts in it. I usually buy the big tub and last time, I probably found only 4 nuts in the whole tub. I was really shocked by it. Thrifty has held up against it's competitors for many years because of the great price and quality. I remember that when I was a kid, once upon a time, it use to be $0.25 for one scoop of Thrifty ice cream and this was the 80's. That is pretty amazing!
Ben and Jerry's Chocolate fudge brownie is the only ice cream I can really have. I would rather have a small tub than a large one of another brand. I can eat Hagen Daz Belgian chocolate and maybe a Baskin Robbins chocolate fudge. My landlady once bought me a generic chocolate ice cream and I felt so bad because I couldn't eat it. It was awful, so she had to eat it instead and she bought a huge tub!!
It is not exactly ice cream, but Meijer's frozen yogurt was amazing. I could eat the entire container in a couple days (which I actually did once). They had a enough of a variety of flavors to make me happy. Sadly, they do not sell it anymore. I do not know what happened. I miss purchasing it, though. As for ice cream, I love dairy queen and Ben & Jerry's.
Years ago, when we lived in Connecticut, we used to buy Turkey Hill vanilla bean ice cream. To this day, it is my favorite although I haven't been able to find it in years. If it's still made, it must be an east coast regional product. Most of the time we buy Blue Bell ice cream now.
Ben and Jerrys is one of my favorite "fancy" brands. And by fancy, I mean DAMN EXPENSIVE. A single pint is now 5 dollars! Which is way too expensive for me. (Ugh, I remember when they were only 3 dollars and change for a pint.) Now a days, I just buy whatever ice cream is on sale. Generally Stone Ridge is the brand on sale, it IS one of my favorites. Stone Ridge is usually both the cheapest and the tastiest. I'm always craving the Neapolitan, but I try not to buy it to much, because I might eat the whole carton!
When I have the extra money, which I currently don't, I actually really like to buy 'local' ice cream from small places. I live in the DC area so my favorite from around here is Moorenkos. I also love Jennis from Ohio, but it's like $10 a pint at Whole foods so that's off the tale for now. In terms of easier to find mass manufactured brands, I like Byers and Ben and Jerry's.
I love ice cream! I actually have several brands I enjoy, however my top 2 are Hagen Dazs and Ben&Jerry's. Not only do they have the best flavors but their ice creams are not ridiculously priced and very good quality!
Ben & Jerry's is my all-time favourite too. However, it is far too expensive so I only buy it if a store is offering it at half price. I have three main grocery chains near my house so someone usually has a deal.
Ben & Jerrys is a favourite of mine too but for me you can't look past the real dairy ice cream we have here in England that is branded as a "Mr. Whippy". It's the greatest ice cream known to man. We have ice cream vans driving around near beaches and tourist hotspots in the summer and they sell a cone of Mr Whippy ice cream for around £1.60, and honestly, it's fantastic. By far my favourite summer treat, nothing better than a nice refreshing ice cream on a boiling hot summer day.
I'm a sucker for Ben and Jerry's ice cream, but I only really buy it when I'm at school with my meal plan money because it's just so expensive! I really like Stewarts brand ice cream as well because they have a lot of amazing and delicious flavors and it's actually pretty cheap!
Ben and Jerry are definitely my favorite brand. Who doesn't love Ben and Jerry? Unfortunately in the last few years my lactose intolerance has been getting worse and worse. Now it's to the point that I can no longer eat it. I have found that the Lactaid brand is really good. I buy the vanilla flavor and it is very vanilla-y. It's really expensive, but it's worth it. I just wish they had more flavors like Ben and Jerry does.
The preferred brand by most people here seems to be Ben and Jerry's, and I have to agree that they make some of the most delicious and interesting flavors on the market. The first two flavors I tried from Ben and Jerry's were the chocolate chip cookie dough and the chocolate fudge brownie - both were delicious and new as I had only been eating the standard flavors beforehand. Any brand of ice cream can spark interest from me if they produce a interesting flavor I had not heard of before.
I'm very traditional on this front, so it's vanilla and maybe strawberry. All the exotic flavors and interpretations are fine but I can only have a small amount of the stuff. I'd like to think that I could have gallons of vanilla (as unhealthy as the prospect of that is).
I don't think I have a favorite brand (as far as I know, they all taste the same ... although I do trust Oklahoma's Braum-family---'the Dairy Specialists'). 'Nowadays' (which I can say because I'm "ancient" here ... over 30 = ancient, yes?) I've been eating Walmart's "Great Value" ice-cream (along with their 'Log In'-everthing-else ... beans, vegetables, orange-juice, etc.) And I've always liked Rocky Road, tho I'm partial to Chocolate Chip Peanut Butter Dark Chocolate Cookie Dough (a flavor I just-now invented )
My favorite brand is Haagen Dazs. I really does taste just like cream, eggs, and sugar. Ben and Jerry's is good too, although sometimes I can't find a flavor I like. Have you heard recently that some companies have been forced to change their labelling from ice cream to "frozen dairy dessert". I guess there are certain ingredients and proportions that need to exist for it to be labelled ice cream. Companies change those proportions and ingredients to try and make bigger profits with cheaper ingredients. I think Bryers and Turkey Hill have had to change some of their labels to "frozen dairy dessert" because of this.
When I was in high school I worked at a Ben and Jerry's. I got so much ice cream for free and it easily became my favorite brand. I can eat other ice cream brands, but something about Ben and Jerry's brings back a lot of memories. It tastes really good too.
Haagen Dazs in plain old chocolate. I can't really afford it, though, so I rarely get to taste it. I still enjoy an occasional cone (chocolate mint chip) from Baskin Robbins; but it's expensive, too. Even a cone of what I call white ice cream (because it has no identifiable flavor) from Dairy Queen has gotten to be a bit high in price.
My favorite is haggendasz ice cream and my favorite flavor there is vanilla. I love this brand because just by tasting it you could taste the quality of ingredients they use and they also put in a lot of work into finding the right mixture to make their ice cream more unique and I think you can taste this difference most in vanilla since it isn't overpowered by other flavors and therefore you can taste the subtleties a lot more.
