Do you have an 'invite-link' for Safeway- or Peapod-delivery? (I don't know whether that would count as an 'affiliate-link,' and don't know the DPF-policy on affiliate-links) But that's probably WHY someone gave you the gift-membership.

The extra fees/costs are probably WORTH IT, as delivery lets you avoid the 'pedestrian-deathtrap' the lazy drivers out there make out of our roads.

Absolutely, everything from Pizza to Chinese to Greek and more. We have a large selection of restaurants nearby that have always delivered, but in addition to that, there is another local service called DeliverMeFood which will deliver food from any restaurant within a certain mile radius for a $5 fee plus a mandatory $18% tip on the total cost of the meal. It's basically only costing you $5 more than what you would have paid going out to eat (and it's actually cheaper if you don't factor in the cost to park, depending on where the restaurant is). So, your food may be a little cold from the delivery - but you get to enjoy it in your pajamas on your couch with your own cocktails, instead of spending an arm and a leg for drinks from their bar :D

That is true nothing is free anymore. Most places charge you extra for the sauce. I wonder if it'll only be a matter of time before we are charged for paper plates.

Ahah, I don't think they will go that far, so you mean food in the hand $5, but in the plate $6? :D The fact is that all the dishes and service is included in the final price, we pay indirectly, they making us pay for the sauces is just another "smart" way they have to increase prices.

I actually just posted a thread on this in coupons. I'm normally skeptical and didn't bother with these delivery services, but I went out on a limb and tried Door Dash. I actually loved it. If you live in a nicely populated area, it's a good way to get delivery from places that NEVER delivery (e.g. starbucks, denny's etc). Just type in your address and see which restaurants are in the area.

It's harder to find coupon codes, but I found a link for $10 Off the first order. Use link

and the coupon code EATNOW for $10 off. Hope the link helps someone.

When I lived in the Boston area, we could get pretty much any kind of take out food delivered, as well as groceries, if we wanted. When I moved down here, this is a vehicle-dependent area, and there aren't many companies that will deliver. Even the ones that will deliver to addresses within a certain range won't deliver where I live. The standard pizza places will deliver here, and one of my favorite places will deliver, but for a double delivery charge. It's not that much, but it irks me that they will deliver to just down the road for one cost, then double it to deliver here.

There is one of these companies here in the Cleveland area called "DeliverMeFood". I was using them for several years on a regular basis when I was unable to drive. They're actually reasonably priced when you factor everything in. They deliver food from many restaurants within a certain radius of your home address. The further the restaurant is from your address, the more of a minimum order you have to place. In addition to the cost of the food, you are responsible for paying a tip which is automatically added (I believe it was 18%) and a $5 delivery fee. Many of the restaurants they deliver from are sit-down establishments that you would have paid the tip at anyhow, so if you think of it that way, you're really just paying an extra $5 for the convenience of having the food delivered to you. It should also be noted that the "tip" is mandatory and not something you can change.

This service was also way, wayyy cheaper than calling a taxi - which would run me over $60 for a round trip ride within a few miles of my place. It was also way more convenient as well, because I wouldn't have to be waiting around for hours for the taxi to show up, since they don't like making trips out to the suburbs.

Obviously though, you have to use some common sense with what food you choose to order, and how well it will realistically hold up during the delivery. I wouldn't order some ice cream sundae and expect it to show up intact and still chilled. Similarly, delicate things such as a salad with hot grilled chicken on it will show up wilted and lukewarm. If you order a burger and fries, the fries aren't going to be piping hot and crispy if the driver had to drive 10 miles to bring it to you. They're just delivery people, they don't have special equipment to keep all the different food items warm or cold or intact from getting shaken around.

But when you're craving a dish or some appetizers or soups from a restaurant you really love, it is super convenient.

There are many restaurants nearby that have delivery systems so it is convenient to order from them. We have a folder holding the menu of those eateries so all we need to do is call. We usually order food for delivery when we have no time to cook like having a hectic work schedule in the office. Sometimes I would be ordering food when I am halfway on my trip home so there would be no waiting time, i.e. we can eat when we arrive home.

Ah, you just reminded me @ohiotom76@ohiotom76 of a service that is available in this general area. I'm not sure if they actually serve the neighborhood where I live, but it's very similar to what you mentioned. I believe it's called TakeOut Taxi, or something like that, and the pricing works in the same way. I'm not sure if the fee is $5, but I believe the tip is mandatory with this service as well, because I recall seeing something about 15% plus delivery charge. Ah, here's a link, and you can put in your city/state or zip code, to see if the service is available where you are. I wonder if they're affiliated with your DeliverMeFood, or are competition? By the way, I checked, and there is nothing available in my area, as usual :(.
