For those with aquarium, you can save a lot in fertilizer if you will use the aquarium water to irrigate your plants and even trees. Especially if you have a big aquarium that you clean every week or so, think of the volume of rich water that would be welcome to the plants. Our gardener friend said that aquarium water is cheap and organic so don't just throw it away. And if you have no garden but you have an aquarium, you may perhaps offer your water to a neighbor with a garden.
Sounds like a great way to get free organic fertilizer. I'm sure it's something most people don't know. I didn't but since I plan to keep some fish, that water will be put to good use. I wonder though if neighbors would want the water from one's aquarium. Supposing their plants were to die for some reason?
