Anyone here who's had experience with using generic styluses for tablets or phones? I've been meaning to get a stylus for a while now, and I'm still trying to decide whether to spend more or just go for the generic ones, and I'm more leaning towards getting the cheap ones because I'm a bit cluttered and I'm assuming that I'll probably lose the stylus one day. My only big concern is, however, that generic styluses might scratch my screen or cause any other damage, so I'm hoping to hear from any of our members here who have had an experience with styluses - whether they are generic/cheap or expensive ones.

I think most stylus' are made to not scratch screens. However, the harder versions might not work on the Ipad model. My Ipad 2 has a soft rubbery tip that is supposed to resemble a fingertip touch. Recently, someone has just given me a generic stylus though and it doesn't seem to have been much different although I was nervous about the same reason. There are several sights that talk about how to remove scratches from screens but since it is not a good idea to even put windex on your Ipad screen I would be hesitant to use it unless I went into an Apple store. You might try contacting a customer service person via the Apple store website or by going in directly before using anything other than what is promoted on their site.
