I use an electric geyser and i hate waiting hours to let the water get hot before i dive in and take a shower. I dont really know if it would save on my electric if i were to switch it off. I read online that it does not make a difference, while others firmly believe it matters. Help anyone?

my understanding is that an electric geyser is a demand type water heater. It heats water when you need it, not when you don't.

I brought this up in another thread a while back. The savings can be over $100 per year, which is only 30c per day for the convenience of having hot water as and when you need it. I have a friend who turns his off but I just don't think the massive hassle is worth the relatively small saving.
