I just went to a Korean grocery store the other day to check up on the food that they sell. I came across some Korean ice cream and said to myself that I'd try one. They looked to cute, some were even shaped like a fish. I settled with a popsicle style melon flavored ice cream. It was so soft to the mouth and so delicious that I bought another one. Have you tasted Korean ice cream too?
No I haven't. Since we're from the same country, which store did you go to and where is it located? I'm assuming that their ice cream tastes the same like the ones that we have available here, unless they added some sort of special ingredient to it.
For some strange reason, I was able to discover a Korean Ice Cream in a Chinese restaurant! We were done with our dinner and when we were about to place orders for dessert, the waitress suggested we try their latest Korean Ice Cream. Melona is the name of the ice cream that was sold to us and it came with various flavors and the best sellers were melon, banana, and strawberries. We tried these three bestsellers and we were satisfied with the "new" taste that we had to re-order for a take away. We got addicted to it, suffice it to say. But, it is not available in any of the local grocery stores that I go to and that means we have to go back to that Chinese restaurant everytime we want to have it.
I've never tried it, does it taste any differently than regular ice cream? I have to say I've been to many chain supermarkets but I've never seen Korean ice cream for sale.
I havent tried one and I am curious right now how it looks and how it taste to my local and other imported Ice Creams. If it taste near or better than Selecta Ice Creams, I'd crave for it more as long as it is not that much expensive. I think I'll look at Korean Groceries near my area later.
I've tasted those, and yes they are good. They taste a little too commercial for me personally, though. I prefer something that still tastes homemade or at least closer to it. Still, I like all the variety that they offer, and I've tasted a lot of them.
I've tried a Korean sweet corn ice cream and rather liked it. Bought it at my local Asian grocery store.
I have never heard of it, but if it's ice cream, I'd be willing to try it. Just curious, is it made differently or made with different types of ingredients?
If the ice cream tastes like hard colored tasted ice stuffed into two tubes connected by a skinny little tube, then it's this generic ice cream that you can find in any asian supermarket.
well, there's more then one brand; which one do you mean? I don't remember the brand of the sweet corn ice cream I tried.
I have never tried Korean ice cream but I would like to try it because I love ice cream. What is the difference between Korean ice cream and traditional ice cream? Is it made with sugar and cream? What ingredients are used a basic recipe?
Seeing that it's ice cream, i can't imagine it being bad. But i don't see myself getting such a specific item around here, at least without ordering from the internet or something, and ordering food from the internet is not a good idea.
They sell it at selected SM malls. I found some in SM City Baguio. Interestingly, it is sold in the wines and liquor section. Lol. Take note of the picture that @Mariana gave. That's what their popsicle looks like. Of course they taste like other ice cream but there's something about them that makes them a bit special.
Melona tastes great. It is so reach and creamy. I have tried all the Melona flavors and we buy them at this Korean store on West Avenue, beside Starbucks. My girlfriend introduced this to me last year. They also serve it at Don Day Korean buffet near Maginhawa St., in front of Pino.
Unfortunately I have never tried it because most of the ice cream that are sold around me are from America and are only famous American brand names. Therefore I just haven't gotten a chance to go outside the box of the mainstream to try some other ice cream from other countries.
@ lindbergh, as long as it doesn't taste like the Korean version of Twin Popsies then I'd be willing to try it. How much does it cost though? I hope it's available in the SM Malls thats near my place.
I have never even heard of Korean ice cream. The only place I would imagine near me that might have some would be a Korean restaurant, though it's possible one of the Asian or international markets could have something like that. I am not really an ice cream eater anymore, but depending on the flavor I might try Korean ice cream were I to have a chance.
