Has anyone noticed that a lot of grain based food is now more expensive? In just a month, the cost of a bag of grain based pet food jumped from twelve dollars to seventeen dollars where I live. This is because of the nationwide drought we are experiencing. There is less water for crops and so food is more expensive.

I haven't noticed it yet but I am sure it will be very soon now. We are expecting almost everything to increase in price because of the drought. We can also expect our gas prices to go up on the West Coast because of the refinery fire in Califonia this week. I think that will combine with the drought effect and will really make the prices of everything go sky high.

No, I never noticed. The pet food we buy is not grain based (our cats are allergic to grains). However, we do buy grains for our own consumption...but where we are it seems to have dropped in price. Prices do generally appear to be fluctuating immensely...probably due to resources changing availability.

I hadn't noticed either. I don't buy pet food, though, and grain based people food hasn't really changed in price.

Well some areas of the United States haven't been hit so hard. I know people around the great lakes and pacific midwest are doing just fine. We were hit hard here, I think we're missing something like thirty inches of rain. A lot of our crops are dying and the animals are thinner.
