I just watched the new Hunter X Hunter: Phantom Rouge anime movie and I was mildly amused. I liked the movie because it was the first time in a long time that I would see Gon, Killua, Kurrapika and Leorio (the heroes of the anime) again. I stopped tuning in to the series when I graduated in college. Anyway, I found the story to be bland and I think that first timers would not appreciate it. The movie tells a back story of Kurrapika but also showcases the friendship between Gon and Killua. I wish that the creators could have added more drama and comedy into the movie because it was obviously lacking. Also, the fight sequences was nothing to write home about. They were not as intense as I wanted them to be. Since I'm a fan of the series, I found the movie to be above average. But to those who have no background of Hunter X Hunter, it would just be mediocre.
