One common complaint that I have seen is that you can't eat healthy when you shop with coupons, that people who coupon feed their families unhealthy foods, etc. This couldn't be farther from the truth! Yes, a lot of the items out there that there are coupons for are unhealthy. BUT - we actually eat healthier now that I coupon! Here's why: Before, our $100 a week grocery budget (and often much less than that) had to be split between household cleaners, laundry detergent, dishwashing detergent, toilet paper, paper towels, hygiene products AND food. It really didn't go that far that way. Now, since I'm able to save so much on cleaning products, hygiene products, paper products and pantry Staples, I have that much more to spend on fresh dairy, Fresh Produce, etc. We actually eat better (healthier) than we did before now. I don't think a lot of people look at it that way, but it has been true for us. The point is to not just buy unhealthy foods because it's on sale or cheap with coupons. Instead, stock up on the things that your family will use while they are cheap. Then, you can spend that excess money buying healthier items that you might not otherwise be able to afford.
Thanks for this informative post, now i know better. I have to be selective and choose coupons for only good products.
